Aikido is a Japanese martial art created by morihei Ueshiba in the late 1940's. Aikido, often called the art of peace the techniques of aikido offer peaceful non-violent solutions to everyday conflicts. After mastering several martial arts, ju-jutsu, spear fighting, kenjutsu and aiki-jujutsu, Ueshiba had a strong desire to create a martial art that invigorated and cultivated life. Using techniques from these proven Battlefield arts Ueshiba created aikido, an art that teaches application of nonviolence by unifying mind and body leading to self-transformation.
